Hi friends! I am over here in the full Christmas spirit, are you? The tree is up, the lights are twinkling and everything smells of cinnamon and pine. One of these days I will have a grown up tree with some sort of theme. But for now, our tree is a mix and match of handmade ornaments clustered near the bottom. And it’s leaning slightly to the left because little hands just can’t help themselves.
I’m sharing a few of my Friday Favorites before the weekend. I hope that through the busyness of the season you can find time to slow down a bit and enjoy the company of your most favorite people.
Online Shopping in Bulk
I loathe shopping at big box stores. My husband likes to go to go on the weekends with all the kids. And all the shoppers. And I think he wants a hot dog.
I refuse. Don’t get me wrong, I am super grateful that we have the option, but I like the online option much better.
Meet Boxed. It’s an online bulk shopping service 🙌🏻. I know. They ship all the lunchbox fillers (granola bars, applesauce, etc.) and everyday basics right to you, and the prices are comparable to Costco. There is no membership fee. And…you can get some cash back if you shop through the Ibotta app.
Dry Skin Savers
I have crazy dry skin and even though it’s anything but dry in the Pacific Northwest right now, the indoor heat is drying us all out. I’ve been slathering up with my trusted CeraVe cream, sleeping with a humidifier on (my hair suffers but beauty is HARD) and I recently started using this heavenly African Black Soap body wash by SheaMoisture. I highly recommend this body wash if you have dry/itchy skin this time of year. I also swear by plain shea butter for hands, cuticles and dry lips.
Non Traditional Christmas Album
When you want a break from Santa Baby and Carol of the Bells (that song is seriously stress inducing!), try out the Songs for Christmas album by Sufjan Stevens. There are a few traditional Christmas songs and some quirky but lovely tracks.
Many are looking for ways to give to those in need over the holidays. One of my favorite non-profit organizations is Kiva.
With Kiva you can give a loan, starting at just $25, to an entrepreneur anywhere in the world. As a lender you can choose a specific country or business you’d like to support and issue your loan through the website. Once the loan is repaid you can lend the money to another borrower. These types of microloans are genius and I just love that you can really see how your money is making an impact, even if it’s just $25.
That’s it for me. May your weekend be merry and bright!
