Stitch Fix Review: July 2015

Stitch Fix Review: July 2015 and A Giveaway!

Can you believe I’m on my 16th Stitch Fix? This week my box came right after my birthday so it was extra special.

If you aren’t familiar with Stitch Fix, you can start at my first Stitch Fix Review. One of my favorite things about this online personal clothing styling service, is that you can just try it once, there is no ongoing commitment. You have the option to have fixes sent monthly, or you can schedule them whenever you’d like. I love the flexibility. So, if you’d like to try it, please sign up using my Stitch Fix referral link. (I get a small credit, that I like to pass on to my readers in the form of giveaways. Everyone wins ;))

If you’re interested in seeing other blogger Stitch Fix reviews, be sure to follow my Stitch Fix Reviews Pinterest board.

I’m going to jump right in. For this Stitch Fix, I requested summer items, specifically skirts, shorts and a romper. I also requested a statement necklace. I actually didn’t get any of those, but I did get some great pieces in some bright, bold colors.

I do have to say the note from my stylist was not very personal this time, it seemed like she was in a hurry and I didn’t get the feeling that she really looked much at my Pinterest board for inspiration. However, I was still happy with my fix. I’m hoping to find a stylist I really click with, that I can request ongoing.

Here we go!

Pixley Mullin Cut-Out Detail Knit Tank

PIxley Mullin Cut-Out Detail Knit Tank, Stitch Fix, blogger review

Pixley Mullin Cut-Out Detail Knit Tank

I liked this tank, the fabric was a thicker knit with a nice softness to it. I also liked the cut, kind of a peplum cut which is flattering if you carry extra weight around your midsection like me. However, I couldn’t figure out how to wear a bra with it with the cut-out detail on the back. I tried a regular bra and tried to wear it a little higher, but that still showed. I tried a strapless bra with a low back, but that also still peaked out. Darn it!

Verdict: Returned

Skies are Blue Cress Lace Inset Top

I LOVED the color of this top, it was a watermelon-y bright pink and it was comfy. I liked the lace detail and the back was interesting. I felt like it was a little too boxy for me though, it felt like it wasn’t flattering so I wasn’t sure if I would wear it much. I was on the fence on this one.

Verdict: Returned

I loved this. The color was gorgeous and the fabric was light and breezy. I liked the cut and the back had the interesting detail at the top. Perfect!

Verdict: Kept

Kut From the Kloth Kate boyfriend jean, stitch fix

Kut from the Kloth Jean

Kut From the Kloth Kate Boyfriend Jean

These fit like a dream and were so comfortable. I loved the relaxed feel but also that they were fitted enough so they didn’t feel sloppy. My only hesitation was the big hole in the knee. It seemed like it would rip more as I washed and wore them, and I didn’t want that. I like a distressed look but the placement of this large hole right on my knee wouldn’t work for someone like me with little kids who is constantly getting down on my knees to tie shoes, etc.

Side note: my stylist card said this was the Kate Boyfriend Jean but when I checked out it had a different price and was listed as the Catherine Boyfriend Jean. I am pretty sure this is the Catherine Boyfriend Jean, that’s what the tag also said.

Verdict: Returned

Bancroft Kinley Mini-Clover Long Necklace, stitch fix

Bancroft Kinley Mini-Clover Long Necklace

This was a long necklace with alternating clovers of diamonds and black. It was just ok, not my thing.

Verdict: Returned

  1. I am asking for a back-to-school dress (I teach K!) & would love some jeans since all the bloggers post on how well they fit & how incredibly soft they are!

  2. I also requested a romper for my July fix, I am not supposed to revive it until the 26th so hopefully I get one!

  3. I would ask for some loose fitting tops and some statement necklaces. I doubt if I asked for pants or jeans that they would fit. I have the hardest time finding pants that fit me right.

  4. The green top is very flattering and a great color. Too bad about the striped top; I can’t imagine what kind of bra would work with that cut-out back detail.

  5. I love the red striped one, it’s too bad about the bra showing because it looks great on you.

  6. Green tank is super cute! I thought the jeans looked great too, but as a mom of 2, I totally understood why you didn’t keep them!

  7. I loved the green tank (that is a great color for you)! The red striped top was so cute too, but I agree, hard to find a bra to work with that!

  8. The jeans look amazing on you! I’m happy when I keep one perfect piece and that green top nailed it!

  9. I would like pieces to wear to work. We have a fairly dressy dress-code and I have a hard time finding affordable pieces that are versatile!

  10. I hope I get some great jeans and tops to start of my 14th year of teaching! I can wear the jeans on Fridays at my school and I teach 1st grade! I love to see your fixes!

  11. I stumbled upon your blog looking for inspiration for my next fix. As many others have said I like the pink and green tops!

  12. I liked the green top also, wondering why the stylist was unable to take more time on your fix. I definitely want to try it, but I am wondering as this idea takes off how well stylists will be in the effort?

  13. I really liked the necklace. I am going to request it from my stylist. Enjoy your postings.

  14. I love the green top you kept. I also love the jeans but agree with you on the hole in the knee…they would have been much better without it. I would ask my stylist for casual but work-appropriate summer tops that look good with a light cardigan on top for going from air-conditioning at work to the warm and humid outside.

  15. I would ask for a nice pair of jeans to wear on weekends and a dress to wear to work. 🙂

  16. I would ask for a pair of quality jeans that I could wear on weekends and a dress that I could wear to work. 🙂

  17. I would ask for a pair of good quality jeans that are nice for weekends and casual events, along with a nice dress that would be good for work. 🙂

  18. The colors were all great in this fix! I think you should have kept the watermelon top, I thought it was slimming and I am going to pin it to my board now! Thanks. 🙂

  19. I really like the pink and green tops. The red and white one is I bad. Fits you well other than the badly placed opening.

  20. The bright colors look wonderful on you! The first shirt was very cute but I would have returned it due to the bra strap issue also.

  21. The red striped top is so cute! I just received a top from Stitch Fix that has an open back, so I am going to try getting a low-back bra attachment that will hopefully be low enough to wear. Fingers crossed!

  22. Cute stuff! I would ask for that green top – love that color, but for some reason they keep sending me black & white!

  23. The green top is super cute on you! I don’t usually like the jewelry they send but I actually really like the necklace you got. Maybe I’ll request it in my next fix!

  24. I just received a fix, and I asked for pieces I could wear for my engagement photos- I wanted feminine details like crochet or lace. It was a 5/5 for me, my stylist absolutely nailed it! 🙂

  25. I scheduled my next Fix for the end of August and asked my stylist for good Fall transition pieces – especially for layering as the weather gets cooler!

  26. I’ve been looking for a few tops to wear with jeans during casual fridays at work. Have you received any you love?

  27. I just got my box and I asked my stylist for a kimono and I actually am currently wearing it! LOVE LOVE LOVE style box.

P.s…. pretty sure I got those jeans in my last box and I LOVE them.

  28. I like the green top! Its too bad that the red striped one had that strangely placed opening!
