sex and the city samantha jones quote friday favorites

This is my current response to the political mess that is happening in our country. Let’s just throw a party instead of spending another three hours watching a group of grown ups acting like morons debate. It reminds me too much of being in the car with my kids.

Smoothie with a Kick
My new favorite smoothie with a shot of coffee. Blend up 1 cup almond milk (or other milk, I like unsweetened vanilla almond milk), one shot of coffee, one scoop vanilla protein powder (I love this one)  and a few ice cubes. It’s so delicious and a different way to enjoy your morning cup of coffee with some protein.

Recipe: Waffle Iron Sweet Potato Hash Browns

sweet potato hash browns waffle iron pale recipe

I keep hearing about all the cool ways you can use your waffle iron for foods other than waffles. Who knew?

My waffle iron is extra special to me, because my grandma gave it to us as a wedding gift. She was not getting around much at that point, but made the effort to go to the store and look up our registry and pick it out. I think of her every time I use it.

Today I’m going to show you an easy peasy way to make sweet potato hash browns in the waffle iron. I love this idea because it’s just so simple, and you get a wonderfully flavorful side dish that is great for breakfast, or really any meal.

Cookie butter. Have you tried it? It’s amazing.

If you haven’t tried cookie butter, or speculoos, you will find it in the nut butter aisle at Trader Joe’s. It has the consistency of peanut butter but tastes like a cookie. I know.
I know.

So, I came up with my homemade cookie butter recipe, I hope you like it!

Serve with fruit (apples or banana slices are good), or spread on bread or crackers. Also makes a great topping for waffles or, well, anything. 🙂

If you try the recipe, let me know how you like it!

DIY Disinfecting Cleaning Wipes

You know I love to make my own cleaning supplies. So it occurred to me that it would be really easy to make some super handy natural disinfecting wipes by adding cleaning solution to a package of baby wipes.

There is no cutting of paper towels.

There are no harmful chemicals.

DIY Soft Scrub Recipe

diy soft scrub recipe

I love to make my own cleaning products, and this DIY Soft Scrub is one of my absolute favorites. It’s quick and easy to mix up, and it works better than those made with harsh chemicals. The best part is that it’s made of all natural ingredients, so it’s easy on your allergies and skin, but tough when it comes to cleaning.

DIY Soft Scrub

2 parts baking soda
1 part liquid castile soap

That’s it! You simply take your baking soda and liquid castile soap, and mix together with a little water until you have a nice paste. Store in an airtight container; I like to reuse old ketchup or dishwashing liquid bottles to fill with the soft scrub mixture for storage with my cleaning supplies. The bottles pictured is an old shampoo bottle from the Honest Company.
